Springtime in Alnwick

Spring is coming and it is most obvious just outside the castle walls. This photo was taken of the picnic area where the yellow flowers are everywhere.

Fortress on the Hill

This structure shot was taken of the Castle on Holy Island. The Castle itself is no where near the size of Alnwick, but it was built to last and watch for incoming invaders.

Coffee Art

During our stay at Holy Island, we decided to get a cup of coffee. When it was brought out to us, there was literally art in the foam. It was the coolest looking coffee I have ever ordered.

Getting Lost in the Castle

I took this photo of a couple and their baby looking at the Castle map. Since we have lived here for four months, it's hard for us to imagine being lost, but I think it happens more then we think.

Seashells by the Sea Shore

This nature shot was taken on the beach near Holy Island. The sights were amazing and the weather even better.

Lights in the Night

This night shot was taken at a monument next to Green Park. The area around it was dark place so this caught my eye immediately.

Newborns on the Farm

These little lambs were keeping warm under a red heat lamp. To distort the picture I remove the color and added the tiling filter.

Wind-Blown

I took this motion photo on top of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. It was an extremely windy day and the flag was blowing quickly in the wind. With the exception of the wind, it was one of the best days.

What is the Time?

This is the Clock Tower inside the Castle walls. Looking up at the Tower I was able to get this low angle shot with the sun behind the tower.

Wall of Strength

This high angle shot was taken looking straight down the wall on the gun terrace. Since the Castle is so old, you can see it has been growing plants for many years.

Greek Landscapes

This photo was taken on top of the acropolis looking out across the city scape. In the back you can see the landscape of the mountainous region stretching inland.

A place to Worship

This was one of the most grand and lavish churches anyone could ever see. This is St. Peter's in the Vatican City. The outside alone is enough to look at for days, but include to surrounding plaza and it is magnificent.

Roman Holiday

Still shot of the Colosseum from a closer perspective. I took so many pictures of the Colosseum that day, but none have been able to show what it actually felt like to see it.

When in Rome...

These soldiers were all part of the picture opportunities placed outside the Colosseum. It was five euros to get your picture taken with them. Their job was to stand outside and take pictures with the tourist. However, during their "slow" times many of them would just chat and smoke a few cigarettes.

In Our Backyard

Walking out the back of the castle through the inner Bailey, there is an unbelievable amount of flowers growing. Spring has come very fast and now it's finally at the castle.

Nightfall in Greece

This night shot was taken on a cruise ship on our way back to mainland Greece. Almost immediately after this shot was taken, the sky got very dark and the temperature went from warm to very chilly. It's amazing what kind of energy the sun can generate.

If you Can-can-can!!

The lights outside the Moulin Rouge are amazingly bright. I took this normal shot and lightened the highlights so that it is difficult to see anything other then the lights. Next I used the watercolor feature to liquefy the look of the lights.

Motion in the Ocean

This picture was taken at the beach in Athens, Greece. The sand was fine and the water was chilly. This motion shot shows the waves breaking on the shore (however small they were that day).

Almost Famous

One of our days in Rome we visited the Vatican museum thinking we would just see the Sistine Chapel. However, we got to see a lot more ceilings that had just as interesting paintings on them, many of which were gold...maybe not as famous as the Sistine. Here is one of the long hallways leading to the Sistine Chapel. It was one of the coolest things we saw that day; this is why I chose it for my low angle shot.

My Floating Pod Above the City

I took this picture while my parents and I rode the London Eye. It has the highest views in the city and you can see for miles in every direction. I took this shot looking down at one of the other pods (foreground). In the background you can see the tops of many buildings and the boats in the river.

The Rolling Hills of England

I took this photo at the top hill in the Duke's park (where I made my mom and dad hike up the hill). I love this photo because last time we were in the park the day was not as clear as the day I shot this picture.
It's impossible not to find amazing architecture in London and Paris, but one of the most famous and beautiful buildings is Westminister Abbey. I took this photo of one of the entrances. It shows the beautiful deatail of the building and it's amazing structure.

Evil Bird

Pidgeons were everywhere in Paris, and I couldn't leave without taking a photo of one. My entire weekend in Paris I lived in fear of these little birds because of their reckless flying.

Smokey Night at the Pub

This still life shot was taken at the Britain at War Museum. It is a portrayal with manikins of what the bar would have looked like when the soldiers would unwind, drink, and play cards.

Good 'ol Red, White, and Blue

I took this motion shot of the flags above the Britain at War Museum. There were many flags flying but I wanted to focus on just a couple so you can see the motion of the flags in the wind.

Fast Cars and Freedom

I took this motion shot in one of the many circle intersections in Paris. There were so many cars driving chaoticly with no traffic lines. It was a interesting sight to see.

Easy Learning

I was impressed with all the art students sketching inside the Louvre. I took this photo of a group because I thought it was amazing that they had a chance to learn at the largest museum in the world.

Night Light

This night shot was taken at the Eiffel Tower. It was exciting to see this statue up close; though it is very easy to see at night from far away because of it's lights.

Caesar

This abstract photo was taken at the Vouvre of Julius Caesar. I used photoshop to adjust the color and add layers to the photo.

Egypt in Paris

This low angle shot was taken in Paris looking up at the Egyptian monument that was brought from Alexandria. It was influential in helping to understand hieroglphics.

Blanket of Lights

I took this high angle shot from the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. I love this picture because it shows the beauty of the city at night and you can easily see the tops of the buildings.

Not Quite Spring

This is my landscape photo and it was taken on the otherside of Alnwick Gardens looking out to the open land. In the front are some dead bushes that haven not begun to sprout. I chose to use this photo because the plants still look dead, but the blue sky reminds me of spring.

It's in the Details

This structure photo was taken in the town square in Brussels, Belgium. The architecture of the city's buildings was amazing, and not to mention full of details. It would have taken days to look at the full extent of all these buildings carefully.

Talking While Driving

I took this photo of a woman who was talking on her cell phone and steering her baby stroller.

A Cottage House for the Birds

This still life photograph was taken of a miniature cottage in a garden. I like this photo because I took a picture a few weeks ago of the life size cottage that looks identical to this (just across the street). I also love the look of the shadows from the other plants towering over.

I Can See Your Roots!

I took this nature picture on the walk in the Duke's park. This tree is really interesting to look at because it looks as though it is growing into the side of a rock face.

Van Gogh at Night

This picture was taken outside the Van Gogh museum at night. The windows of the gift shop were just giant pictures of his work (you can see the reflection of the street lights in the glass).

£2 for Parking!

I took this photo of a sign for Alnwick Garden parking, which was laying in the grass. I distored it in photoshop by adding a layer over the top that makes the image have a water ripple effect.

Back-End

This motion shot was taken of a car driving down the street. I was surprised that the car wasn't more blurred because of the speed at which it was going.

Old Wall

This is a low camera angle shot taken in the town of Alnwick. It is part of archway near the playhouse. I took this picture because the structure is very old, yet it still has a lot of unique features.

Cobble Stones= Not Made for Heels

This high angle shot was taken above an old part sidewalk which has since been replaced. I like this photo because it looks like it could be almost anything in an old town, but it happens to be just a plain sidewalk.

GREAT Britian

The hike we took on wednesday showed us an amazing few of the countryside. I took this picture along the road looking back over the pastures and rolling hills.

Anne Frank's Hideout

This was taken in Amsterdam outside the Anne Frank Museum. This is a typical house and or office building in Amsterdam. There are streets upon streets of these type of buildings all over the city.

Brizlee Tower, Just a Hike away

This picture was taken of the Brizlee tower in the Duke's park.

Valentine's Day Carriage Ride

This picture was taken in the city of Bruges of a couple in a horse-drawn carriage. It was taken on Valentine's day when the city was full of carriages and couples touring the city.

...More Sheep...

I took this nature picture of the "Duke's sheep" in the park. There were so many, I don't know who would be able to count them all...or who would want to.

Fountain Show at Night

This is the fountain outside the ritzy American Hotel in Amsterdam. This fountain was really cool to watch because it was constantly moving, and the lights were so bright against the night sky.

Funky Meal

This was our first meal in Brussels. We could only find one place near our hotel that was serving food, unfortunately it wasn't the best meal. I altered this photo in photoshop by changing the layers and filters.

Minnesota in England

This motion picture was taken in Durham while the snow was flying in large flakes. I really love this picture because we are missing all the flying snow back home, and for one day we got a chance to experience it again.

look to the sky

I took this low angle picture looking up the side of the tower in the Duke's park.
